My name is Jenepher Castillo, and I am the widow of a Veteran lost to suicide 4 years ago. Since my husband’s passing, I have become very active in the Veteran community, encouraging and promoting organizations like the Lone Survivor Foundation, Boot Campaign, and others with outreach in our local Veteran community. The organizations I volunteer with all hold similar goals, which are to assist Vets with transitioning home, and with finding resources to overcome PTSD and accomplish successful reintegration, so that they can remain valued, successful members of our communities. It’s my strongly held belief that our Veterans are some of our most valuable citizens, and losing even one to suicide is a tragedy no family should have to experience.
Currently, I am working on a project with OATH, Inc. OATH stands for Outdoor Adventures for True Heroes. (www.oathinc.org). OATH is based out of Katy, TX but has several chapters nationwide. They coordinate outdoor events for Vets and their families – hunting, fishing, campouts, things like that.
Our upcoming event is the 5th annual Sporting Clays Tournament, being held on Nov. 10th at Texas Premier Sporting Arms, in Sealy TX. In addition to the shooting tournament, we are also featuring a BBQ Contest, which is now a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event, with amazing opportunity for teams to advance to larger competitions.
We’re looking for shooters / shooting teams, BBQ teams, attendees, and of course – donors and sponsors. This event has a lot going on.
I’m reaching out to you guys because I feel that this would be a great event for your organization to be involved with, and I’m also hoping you may have some other contacts who would be interested in getting involved.
I’ve attached the sponsorship package, just so you have an idea of what that is. Here is the website with all the information and more. There is an option to simply set up an exhibitor table at the event, if sponsorship is not ideal.
Please let me know if you have any additional ideas on how we could have LSVA get involved. I truly appreciate your attention and hope to hear from you soon!
