Creating or growing a veteran employee group is a great way to increase hiring, retention, and advancement of veterans at Medium to Large companies. The Houston area has dozens of these groups quietly improving their companies and their communities. Our goal is to bring a spotlight to the combined impact that these groups are making on the Houston area. If your company doesn't currently have an employee group for veterans we want to share best practices to help you build the business case, launch, and grow your group. Your group will not be exactly the same as groups at other companies, as you should align your group to support your company's current goals and initiatives. Here are some examples of aligning your group with larger company goals:
- Veteran Employment: Align with recruiters in the Human Resources department to assist with recruiting and on-boarding.
- Marketing to Veterans: Help with the company's initiative to understand and market towards veteran customers.
- Community Relations: Promote your company in the community through volunteering.
