Advisory Councils

The advisory council has been a part of LSVA since our founding, the intent is to broaden the engagement of the community and members with the operations and direction of the organization. In 2017 we are expanding this vital resource to develop individual advisory councils focused on specific events, services, and activities.

For example, our Operation Lone Star Santa saw it's biggest year in 2016 with 349 children and 128 veteran families receiving toys and a meal at our Christmas party. We cannot grow this event at the current facility and with the goal to double the children served by this program we will need months of coordination and a large team to develop the program. For a small charity this is impossible without the passion and efforts of our volunteers. Instead of waiting to engage volunteers right before the event we want a small group of 5-10 volunteers to help build this program throughout 2017.

Advisory council members all must be approved by the LSVA Board of Directors and will undergo an application process similar to the standard LSVA employee application process.
